#美東邨 除了其依山而建、低密度高+低座的建築設計外，亦見證了七十年代 #九龍城寨 旁收潮平新村及東和村平房建更高密度政府房屋的歷史，美仁樓和美德樓卻因收培民村及博愛村地困難，要到2010和2014才建好，變成二千年的設計。昔日興建美東樓及美寶樓之時高度受航道限制，只建約50米，勉強追上一街之隔九龍城寨的密度，店舖也成了正正面對城寨。其中「三不管」城內與嚴謹管制的政府房屋的誇張對立、城內外人們的生活交流，定必有不少故事，可惜似乎甚少見有記載
Other than the architectural form that follows the topography, and a low block + upper block design - Mei Tung Estate also witnessed the life of the demolished Kowloon Walled City as it is located right across the road. However, not much documentary of these were found and now the 2 Mei Tung old blocks will also be demolished soon
